Occupational Therapist
I'm a passionate therapist who through the process of my degree discovered that I'm Autistic and an ADHD'er. I grew up feeling like I never quite 'fit in' and that I seemed to see the world differently from the vast majority of others.
(except my friends who all happen to be some degree of neuro-spicy)
I started out working with kids however after having the opportunity of working with neurodivergent older teens and adults I knew I'd found my 'zone'.
I was initially wary of disclosing my neurodivergence, however, I noticed a positive shift when I opened up that we are neurokin. I think it led to people feeling heard, seen, and believed about their experiences and challenges.
Their challenges made sense to me, especially when they talked about understanding themselves and how that translated to what they were choosing to do, and how very often it reflected the expectations of others and societal norms, as opposed to being driven by their preferences, values and internally motivated by what they found meaningful.
This is why I started Neurokin OT so that we can go on adventures into what it means to be you, relative to who you are and what you want to do. Diagnosis can dramatically alter our perception of ourselves and finding the path forward, be it through assessments, reports or therapy is what we can explore - together.
